Sweet Potato Hand Pies

Ingredients

Filling

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp nutmeg

  • ¼ tsp ginger

  • ¼ tsp allspice

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Dough

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 cup cold butter, cubed

  • ½ cup ice water

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp water

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Mix mashed sweet potatoes, sugars, spices, vanilla, and butter.

2️⃣ Combine flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water until dough forms. Chill 30 minutes.

3️⃣ Roll dough and cut 4-inch circles. Add a spoon of filling, fold, and seal edges with a fork.

4️⃣ Brush with egg wash.

5️⃣ Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.

6️⃣ Drizzle glaze if desired and serve.
