Smothered Chicken + 🧀 Baked Mac & Cheese + 🥬 Cabbage

 

Smothered Chicken (Main Star)

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken thighs or legs
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt & black pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder & onion powder
  2. Heat oil → sear chicken 5–7 min per side until golden → remove
  3. In same pan: add butter + onions + peppers → cook until soft
  4. Add garlic (30 sec)
  5. Sprinkle flour → stir 1 min (this makes gravy)
  6. Slowly add chicken broth → mix well
  7. Return chicken → cover & simmer 25–30 min until tender
    👉 Sauce becomes thick, rich & flavorful 🔥

🧀 Creamy Baked Mac & Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella
  • Salt, pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika

Instructions:

  1. Cook pasta (al dente)
  2. Melt butter → add flour → cook 1 min
  3. Add milk + cream → stir until thick
  4. Add cheese → melt into creamy sauce
  5. Mix with pasta
  6. Transfer to baking dish → top with extra cheese
  7. Bake 180°C for 20 min until golden 🔥

🥬 Southern Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 1 cabbage (chopped)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper
  • (Optional: smoked turkey or beef bacon)

Instructions:

  1. Heat butter/oil → cook onion + garlic
  2. Add cabbage → stir well
  3. Season with salt, pepper, paprika
  4. Cover & cook 15–20 min until soft
    👉 Slightly caramelized = BEST flavor

🍽️ Plating (Important for viral look)

  • Place mac & cheese first 🧀
  • Add smothered chicken on side 🍗
  • Pour gravy over chicken
  • Add cabbage
  • Finish with extra sauce + parsley
